Brooklyn Women’s Chorus “Cheeky Women” Concert

Tickets April 12, 2013 at the BMCC TribecA Performing Art Center
The Brooklyn Women’s Chorus, founded by musical director, Bev Grant, presents “Cheeky Women,” a timely performance of song, spoken word and projected images exploring the story of women who have inspired us.

Voices raised in song and speaking out in poetry tell of women who individual chorus members have drawn inspiration from, women like Harriet Tubman, and Rebecca Lolosoli, soccer playing South African grannies, and many others. The presentation includes over 400 projected images, and an original script, written by choral director Bev Grant, with contributions from former artistic director Angela Lockhart, and other chorus members.

Joining the chorus will be percussionist Robin Burdulis, Jeremiah Birnbaum on guitars and mandolin and Barry Kornhauser on cello.

With the conviction that any woman can sing, the Brooklyn Women’s Chorus brings together women of many different levels of musical experience. In existence for 15 years, the chorus is flourishing as a place where women use music and spoken word to express their individual talents as well as their collective belief in social justice.
